The artist - Wakeah Jhane - is currently featured at Santa Fe Indian Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico (April 14-18, 2025) as a self taught. Ledger artist. The incomparable Wakeah won first place in the Ledger Art category at the 2024 Santa Fe Indian Market art competition. “First Light” is an exciting reminder of Paul Gaugin and his unique, always surprising style, While Gaugin started his career with the Impressionists, he broke from his peers to develop his own style, "Synthetism", characterized by bold colors, large areas of color, and vibrant outlines. In  the same way, Wakeah’s art is breaking out from classic two dimensional art with greater pops of color and memorable images of strength and beauty paired with valued traditions.
